my replaytv doesn't know what time it is

I have a one line feed, no capability of changing channels with rtv - have to do it manually on the tv, but that's ok - want to manual record - set it up and it doesn't work - keeps saying it's going to record as instructed but then doesn't do it - doesn't seem to know the time and date - I've searched the user manual and all set up options and can't find any way to give it the right date and time-

I've also searched this forum and didn't find it.

Can somebody point me in the right direction?

thank you

replaytv units must connect to service to get current time and guide information.
in setup I select other - and have no provider, just 3 local channels - and want to use it as a blind box - a little better than vcr and with ability to pause live - can I do this?

To be used for anything (other than a doorstop), RTVs need to periodically connect to RTVs servers. You can do this over your Internet connection, or with a phone line. But you have to do it.
IF you have a showstopper there is a hacked OS image you can download. It allows you to set the time manually.

the clock does drift over time, but you can always set the time again. If your lucky, your showstopper is a slow drifter.
The "manual timeset" version of the os image actually exists for any unit running RTV-O/S v.3.02 (the RTV-2k, RTV-3k and ShowStopper) - But 'cow is very correct about "if you're lucky, your ShowStopper is a slow drifter." every older unit that I've seen drifts at least 1-2 minutes per day.
Thank you all very much. I think I know what I gotta do now.
