I don't get it I had my Denon programmed via 0160 code in my ReplayTV remote before and even had the volume keys copied across. I am changing my setup to DirectTV so I wanted to remove the Denon code from the Sat button and program my Sat device there. But I still want to have the remote control the volume on the receiver.

The following page has been a great help.... http://www.hifi-remote.com/ofa/manuals/OEM.shtml?Replay

But, here is my new problem. I can't re-assign the 0160 code to any button now. It never gives me a double flash when re-assigning this code to any button. Almost like it has been black listed. I don't get it. I've removed Replay codes and re-initialized them and still it will no longer take that code. Am I missing something? Anyone have any trouble shooting help available for the ReplayTV remotes?

I was under the assumption 9-9-2 code was erasing that device key to assign a new device. After re-reading the instructions over-and-over I realized it copies device keys.

In case anyone searches and runs into this.

1) use code 9-7-7 to disable the ReplayTV codes

copy the replay device key code to the Sat device

2) 'code set' 9-9-2 'replay device key' 'sat device key'

3) 'sat key' 'code set' (set code for your audio receiver)

now punch through volume to all other devices

4) 'replay device key' 'code set' 9-9-3 'Sat key'

repeat for each device you want to copy volume from Sat device which is really your Stereo Receiver.

Now you can go back and set TV code and DVD code

Don't forget to restore your replay device key codes

'code set' 9-8-7 0-0-0-1

see the link in my previous post for more details.....

p.s.: I changed services and loaded the other services TV Guide and Replay knew what shows I wanted to recorded and correctly found what new channels they would be on and I didn't have to even reset them. WAY TO GO REPLAY!!! you guys kick butt....

If I understand you correctly, you previously used the SAT button to control your Denon, but now you want to use it to control your DirecTV and you still want all the volume buttons to work the Denon.

Using the VPT (vol punch thru) the way you describe will only work while the SAT button is used to control the Denon, when you re-program the button to work your DTV unit, the VPT will no longer work. But the good news is that there is another way to do it.

Do the 977 thing, then convert the SAT button to an audio button like you did before, then program the 0160 code to BOTH the SAT and RTV buttons.

Then use key mover to copy the volume buttons from the RTV device to the other three devices, like this...

[CODE SET **] 994 ** RTV VOL+ CBL VOL+ **

[CODE SET **] 994 ** RTV VOL- CBL VOL- **

[CODE SET **] 994 ** RTV MUTE CBL MUTE **

repeat for TV, SAT and VCR

Then copy the volume from the SAT button back to the RTV button, like this...

[CODE SET **] 994 ** SAT VOL+ RTV VOL+ **

[CODE SET **] 994 ** SAT VOL- RTV VOL- **

[CODE SET **] 994 ** SAT MUTE RTV MUTE **

Now that all the volume buttons have been programmed, convert the SAT button back to a SAT button, like this....

[CODE SET **] 992 ** SAT SAT **

You can now program the TV, VCR and SAT codes to each of these device buttons, then use 987 to re-program Replay, and you shold be all set.

You're right I left the Denon on the Sat button feeling quite satisfied with that alone. The only need for Sat remote would be power, since I use replayTV menus anyhow; but when I get ambitious I will tempt faith one more time and try your steps.....

Its the only way to learn....

if you really only need the SAT power button, then all you need to do is program the SAT code to the SAT button (while it's still a SAT button) and then copy the POWER button to an unused button, then proceed to convert the SAT button to an audio button, etc.

If you've already done the whole 977/987 thing and don't want to have to do all that again, you could use the 992 function to convert one of the other device buttons (TV, for example) to be a SAT button, program the code for your DTV, copy the power button, then convert it back to beign a TV button and re-program your TV code.
