My screen will be 63x110 16:9 G11 will be Projecting at 21.3 or 22 Feet. Planning on putting the bottom of the screen 16" off the floor,will my front seating be in the way of the picture? Top of screen will be at 79" and celing height is 93.5" (I want to have the center speaker above the screen)will this work out good using inverted mount G11 ? What distance will the projector need to be off the ground ?? Thanks Chuck.........

PS Front seating is at 13Ft rear seating is at 18Ft

What I would do is as follows since I take it you dont have the projectors manual.............


1. Simply set up the PJ about where you think you might want it. Turn it on as project a rough image on the wall ( screen wall )


2. Take some measurements at this point. Is the projected image going to be big enough to fill the screen or is it too big? Is the bottom of the screen to close to the floor? If so how high do you have to raise the projector? build a pedistal for the projector if necessary.


3. Sit in your seating arrangements and see how it all looks. You may want to place someone in the front row and you sit in the back row and see if you can see the screen clearly. If needed you may want to build a riser to place the rear seating higher then the fron row to allow more visibility from the rear. ( not to mention that it would look cool )


4. If all is ok and in the realm of the projectors adjustments, you can mount the screen. Keep in mind though that you were projecting the image directly on the screen wall and the actual projection screen may sit off the wall, possibly 1" or so closer to the progector. You may need to refocus and re converge (if CRT) to get a good image.


These basic steps helped me to set up my SONY CRT before I got the manual. I am within the projectors throw distance for a 100" screen and I was able to get the unit fully converged for my 100" screen. I of course will be ceiling mounting the unit and therefor need to make subtle adjustments after installation to insure good picture quality.

If you use these as a guide line you should be able to answer some of your questions. REMEMBER this is not referance material so you will need to make changes if you are not seeing the results you are looking for. This will however help you to get the room constructed with basic guide lines to keep in mind.

I messed up, I see you are going to be ceiling mounting the PJ. I thought you were going to be setting it up on the floor and woundering what the distance from the floor to the bottom of the projector would be. Instead you want to know the distance from the floor to the top of the projector when its inverted and hanging on the ceiling.


Well, what I am going to do with my SONY is mount it so that the from of the lenses are to the measurments I took when in the floor mounted mode. Then if the image is too high or too low I am going to be adjusting the mounted projector to put the image on the wall at the right place. If need be I may have to adjust the KAYSTONE to keep the image edges at 90 deg. I dont really want to have to hang the projector too far below my ceiling line if the manual says from floor to PJ should be lets say 96" and my celing is at 10" I would then need to make a 24" decending colum to mount the unit on.


Does that make some sence, or am I going about this wrong myself?

Hi: I have the same question. I think there is a thread "DILA: FAQs" that has the answer regarding throw distance calculations. I recently saw a thread that had a table where you put in the distance and it would calculate the other parameters. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find that again but I'm pretty sure it would be under the FAQ's.
