My setup and 6.1/7.1 sound...is it a good idea? Includes room map.

Hello all. I recently upgraded my home theater and now have a PS3, Onkyo 805, and HSU speakers and sub. I have it set up as a 5.1 system right now and it sounds great. I'm thinking about adding 1 or 2 rear speakers to make it a 6.1 or 7.1 setup, but I'm unsure how it will sound because of my room setup. The main listening position is backed up against the back wall. So, if I were to add and speakers, they would have to be on the rear wall directly above the main listening position. Is this a bad thing or is it ok to do?

I'll try to attach a Word document that shows my current layout.

Thanks SO much!

I would leave things set as a 5.1 system. You need more room behind your seat for a "rear" speaker to be of any use.

Note that you still get a phantom rear image with two surround speakers, so you are missing little if anything with your setup. You may want to move that left surround speaker back a bit, but that is being a bit picky on my part. Kind of hard to look at a drawing and know for sure what lloks good in the room.
Thanks for the reply. That's kind of what I was wondering.
