11 years ago I built my first "real" HT in my old house (after redoing the room 3 times): https://www.avsforum.com/forum/19-d...ut-gut-my-theater-rebuild-3.html#post14943164

I sold that house 7 years ago, lived in an apartment for 5 years, then bought a new house 2 years ago. I have been wanting to do a new HT in this house since I moved in, and just finally got around to doing it.

This time instead of going with a dedicated HT room, this is more of a mancave/den/media room/HT/hang out room. My sons are big superhero and Transformers fans, so I decided to make it a superhero/nerd mancave theme. :)

Obviously this is not a light controlled room, so it's most for watching during the evenings. I have ordered some blackout curtains for the windows which would make it possible to use this during the day.

I didn't go with anything fancy this time, just a 1080p projector, Polk speakers, and an SVS sub. Only did 5.1, again nothing fancy or top of the line here.

I love it, and it's a nice and casual relaxing and big open room (room is 17' x 21'). Pictures were taken with all lights on so as to be able to see the black bookcases and entertainment center.

Hope you enjoy. :)

I love it. I currently have a small dedicated HT in the basement. Everything is best bang for the buck, on the cheaper end, but nice. I've had it for about 14 years and just upgraded the PJ to 1080p and the receiver last year and purchased new Emotiva Speakers all around (Clearance) to go with my two SVS Subs. And I am finding I use it no more than before. It's just out of the way. Room behind a closed door in the basement. I think I've watched 5 movies on it within the last year. Over 14 years, I only put less than 600 hours on my 720p PJ. If I ever have another house, I will be doing what you have done here. A Multipurpose room where I can watch Football on a large screen with some lights and room to talk. I've watched one Football game in my HT with friends and it was boring because it has two rows of three seats each. Sort of hard to eat and talk while watching a game in a dedicated room.

captainrob is correct, it's an IKEA TV stand. I got two them and put them next to each other, so I could have one long TV stand.

Nice space Koach!

You should look into flipping your PJ over, so you don't need so much keystone correction. I bet it will improve the image /forum/images/smilies/wink.gif
Thanks! Do you mean placing the projector upside down on the shelf?

Yes, though you may need some type of blocks or cones to do that, or hang it from a mount on your ceiling.
I couldn't make a ceiling mount work due to the soffit. It was in the way of the projected image.

I will try the upside down on the shelf though. May look weird but if it makes the picture better I am all for it.
