Hi to All,

Having always a love of high-tech stuff and with a background of an electrical engineer I spent the last 6-7 months for studying the latest technology in HTs and finally took the plunge and bought a couple of nice equipment for my living room.

Size of the living room:

Length: 13 feet/ 4 meters

Width: 12 feet/ 3.7 meters

Height: 10 feet/ 3.1 meters

Eqpmt:

LCD TV: Samsung LE40A656

AVR: Denon AVR-2310

Speakers: Dali of Denmark ( www.dali.dk )

Front L/R: Dali Concept 2

Front Heights: Dali Concept 1

Center: Dali Concept Center (what else, eh?)

Surrounds: Dali Concept 1

Sub: Dali Concept Sub (what else, again?)

STB: Philips HD DVR

Turntable: Akai AP-001C (vintage type, but needed a lot)

Tape deck: Akai CS-702 D (another vintage type, but needed again)

VCR: have a lot of VHS cassettes from the past, so its a Panasonic NV-HD687

CD: Sony CDP-M43 (soon to be replaced by a Denon DB2500BT HD transport)

Laptop: Toshiba Satellite A10-S503 (still need to figure out how to connect it to the Denon avr)

Air-con: Samsung xxx (too lazy to look up the model no.)

OK, so here are the pix:

As seen from the couch:

The other way around as seen from the TV:

All front speakers are nudged off up front from the bookshelf and tilted at about 10 degrees downwards in order to face the main listening position at ear height...

A decent shot of the Denon AVR-2310 at her place, including the completely sealed front firing Dali Concept Sub:

Front Main Left and Front Left Height placement:

Anything you Guys would have done differently? Suggestions are more than welcome! Please don't spare me!

Thanks a lot,. ...but whaddaya mean to say by "nice office"?

Sorry. I guess "study" would have been a better choice, just going by all of the books you have in there. Kinda makes the equipment secondary IMO.

I would also add "Library". But when I first saw the pics I said the same thing "Looks more like a home office".

Hi Guys, never thought of that "office look" of my living room, but you may have a point there. Maybe the extention to the left side with the laptop is responsible for this case.
Anyhow, the system sounds pretty good!!

Thanks again.

Very nice setup. Not sure if these area available in your neck of the woods but they can be used for angling your speakers - and also isolate them too. Auralex makes some good stuff.

Thanks wizzack. Mopad looks like a pretty good idea. I'll start to look around in my woods!

mogorf,

Very nice room. I like all the wood work and the beautiful windows to the left. It sure looks like you have a nice view!

Dali makes some excellent speakers and I am sure it sounds great in there!

Wow, nice setup! Plus, the fact that it's not your typical boxed room is really nice! Lot of personality in that room and it shows!

Hi dd,

Thanks for your kind compliments, room was completely remodelled in 2008 by a designer studio, cost a fortune, but nonetheless! And yeah, Dali beyond its quality guaranteed by Danish craftsmanship, also does well in the price department! :)

Thanks Luma, owner (wifey and me) and designer worked closely together via a lot of consultation before and even on-the-job to get this final result.

Good use of the space!! I like all the storage you have.

Thanks GLuebben and cdvision,

Another point in regards of acoustic treatment (sort of) was the wallpaper seen behind the TV and on the right side (might not be really visible on the photo). It's not a flat and glossy product but has a kinda rough texture that has the role of taming reflections off the walls, yet allowing Audyssey to do a better (less strained) job while doing room correction.

Meantime, the mirrors built into the rear wall furniture (so called bronze mirrors that are less agressive than "normal" mirrors, if you take a closer look) may mean a challange for Audyssey, but the overall effects work pretty fine for my ears.
