So...there is alot of talk going on about the Samsung panels, and how there are 3 different ones they place in their LCD TVs. A = AU Optronics C= Chi Mei Optoelectronics, and S= Samsung
There is also talk about the discrepancy between whether the LNXXA530 has 20,000 or 30,000 contrast ratio. The boxes on all the LNXXA530's says 30,000, but the samsung website says 20,000.
MY THEORY: The "S" panels have 30,000 contrast ratio, and the "A" and "C" ones have 20,000. I bought an LN46A530 and it was brand new, never opened. When i opened it, i noticed that there was NO sticker on the left side of the TV (the one that says 1080P HD, 30,000 contrast ratio, 3 HDMI etc.) The dispaly models had them, and i have seen pictures in these forums showing the photos of the sticker. I checked to see which panel I had, and it was "A".
I then exchanged it for an open box "S" panel, and it DID have the sticker on it. I think perhaps only the "S" panels have stickers attached, and "A" and "C" don't. Can someone confirm this? Did your TV have the sticker on it, and if so, is it indeed an "S" panel? I think Samsung may have been making all "S" panels with 30,000 CR, and later outsourced and the new ones were 20,000 CR, BUT THE BOXES STAYED THE SAME. What do you guys think?
