I just wanted to add yet another to the long string of "Wow, SVSound really DOES offer world-class customer service" stories. I recently moved from Texas to Ohio and our military movers damaged my PBUltra/2 in the process (actually, our massive china cabinet fell on the enclosure, gouged out a hole, and the wood shards punctured one of the drivers). Tom had suggested that I could potentially buy the pieces to a new Ultra/2 once I got settled and since I would only be about 300 miles down the road from the factory, I could consider making the trip to avoid the shipping costs.
Well, things finally fell into place yesterday. I took a day of leave, packed up my remaining driver and amp and braved the snow to make the trek up Ohio's scenic non-coastal highways. EVERYONE in the factory was friendly, courteous, and falling all over themselves to make sure I was comfortable and pleased with the final results. Dan let me watch while he built my sub (very cool!) and Joe--who turned out to be Tom's nephew I believe--gave me a tour of factory floor, kept me entertained for nearly an hour, and generally let me geek out about all the subs, enclosures, and bare drivers lying around--they even sent me home with one of SVSound's coveted beefy Ts for my trouble! While waiting for my payment to finish processing, I also wandered around the "showroom" floor where I was finally able to see the new rosenut finish, as well as the maple, and piano gloss finishes in Ultra and Plus flavors, as well as one of the sealed box subs (it really is amazingly tiny), a trio of PB-10s, the SBS-01 7.1 system, and all three sizes of the cylinder series subs. It was really quite informative to be able to see all the finishes in person--I have a MUCH better idea of what I might do in the future now that I've seen the actual finishes up close and in person. In addition, it sounds like 2007-2008 is going to be a banner couple of years for new product introduction in terms of both speakers and new sub options.
I certainly wish I didn't have to contend with replacing so many components to enjoy this experience (turns out my amp had taken a hit too and was making some kind of clicking noise whenever a load was applied), but in the end I drove home with a brand new sub and thoroughly enjoyed myself in the process--fortunately the snowfall only looked intimidating but turned out to be pretty harmless by the end of the evening! If any of you ever find yourself passing through northern Ohio--I strongly encourage you to give the guys at SVSound a day or two's notice and drop in to say hello and show them some love; I promise you will NOT be sorry you made the trip.
Cheers!
