What happens if you power cycle the TV? It's odd that a cable would just stop working.

My TV detects the HDMI cable, but then says no source found?
I've never run in to this before.
So I was thinking I'd watch a movie last night. I turned on the DVD player, the TV said "Detecting new HDMI source..." like it always does, but then it simply said "No HDMI source detected," as though there was nothing there. I tried it a few more times, no luck. I switched the HDMI cable to the HD cable box, and the same thing happened.
Is is the HDMI cable? Do I need a new one? And if so, does Monoprice have a return policy? I bought the cable almost two years ago.
