My yamaha avantage 1030 seems to be dated. It was near the best when I bought it brand new, dang technology pace...

While all 8 hdmi's say they're hdcp 2.2, I still had an aired 4k football game via roku ultra say something in the chain was not compliant. Multiple restarts of roku ultra 4k(for sure 4k) and the new epson 5050 (for sure 4k compliant) and yamaha resulted in the same issue.

I do have some new 48gbps cables showing up today to see if that's an issue, but reading further, it seems that if anything was HDR then the yamaha would be non compliant.

Soooo, what's the logical upgrade? I have the yamaha powering my front raised stage, and rear highs, the outlaw amp handles the rest of the big stuff.

Skip all of it and use an HD Fury?

I don't have atmos speakers cut into the ceiling, but I'm not opposed to it either...

Great looking theater. I did the Atmos upgrade over the last 18 months first to 2 and then to 4 Atmos speakers. I highly recommend doing the 4. Made a significant difference. I have 4 SVS Elevation speakers and they can be ceiling mounted or wall mounted at ceiling height.

How many speakers are you running right now?

I'm thinking about moving my bipolars to full rears and moving my 2 high rear klipsch 5800s into the atmos position and maybe getting two more 5800s.

I have 3 front heights (all klipsch 5800s). I see that new 7.x.4 has zero front stage heights... I guess I free'd up 3 5800s right there if I fill those holes back in...

so indecisive.

So you want to run 7.x.4 if I understand correctly? I run 7.1.4 with a Denon 6500 and I am thrilled with the Atmos movie soundtracks.

I run LCR mains and side surround mains via an outlaw amp

Then I run LCR front heights and rear highs (main rears) via the yamaha directly.

Then I have the 12" mk sub playing mid level bass, and the 2 dts-10 superspuds playing all the deep bass.

The location of my current rears (in the ceiling) may pose an issue. Or maybe I repurpose them exactly were they are as rear atmos then steal 2 if the front heights and cut them into front atmos, and do some In-walls at ear level fpr the rear mains? Or move my bipolars to the back at ear level.

My bipolars as side mains are up high because of room configuration. Not sure on my options with that issue.

The NAD 788 looks pretty nice, and upgradeable...
Any suggestions? I see some pretty stout deals on Denon 4500s and some other beefy receivers.

Check out the Arcam AVR550. I think that's where my money would go right now. If I had any . $3500 selling for $2500 now.

Slid a Yamaha aventage 3080 in the rack today. So far it's a nice unit.
