I read in the FAQ that the MyHD is unable to play videos over the network. I must use windows media player instead (which does not allow me to fast foward)


Anyways, I was wondering if anyone had a detailed explaination why it does not work. It does not seem obvious to me, the two things seem fairly unrelated.

it has to do with the file handling calls that the programmers used way back when during GUI development.... wrong choice.... now they don't want to go back and reinvent the wheel

... so MyHD is old-computer-centric...

Do you mean it's lost on UNC paths? How about mapping a drive letter?

What about recording transport streams over the network? Does that have the same restriction?
