the directions for the MYHD card show that you neet to set the hard disk dma setting to on but under win 2000 that option isn't available to me.

I am having problems recording and I thought this setting may be the problem.

does anyone know why I need to set the DMA setting to on for myhd?

thanks

Why? it is available on my Win2K. UDMA must be enabled in BIOS. The DMA dropdown is on the Advanced Tab of the Drive channel you will use

DMA is required for the fast read/write required for HD recording and DVD play back. My ATI DVD player also needs HD to have DMA set.

On VIA chipsets, use IDETOOL to enable/disable DMA transfers...

I get complaints from all sorts of programs because it can't tell if they are enabled or not, but as far as I can tell they are.
