Myth Hardware Setup question (newbie)

454 Views 1 Reply 2 Participants Last post by  jflatt
This is my first attempt at setting up a myth tv box... but I have a hardware related question before I can proceed.

I have a Gigabyte Nvidia 6600GT with VGA/S-Video/DVI output and a Samsung LCD with Component/HDMI/VGA inputs.

I can connect my pc to the 'monitor' using vga, but only get 1360x768 at 60Hz. I would like to utilize the DVI->HDMI but there is that glaring line in the Samsung documentation, "The HDMI/DVI jacks do not support PC connection." How can this be? How can the Samsung differentiate between my HTPC and a comcast dvr box which can connect via HDMI? In any event, I havent had a chance to get a DVI->HDMI cable/converter, but will do so this weekend. AmI wasting my time and money?

I've seen mentions of this around the net, but nothing firm on this subject, so any help about this is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance.

You might want VGA instead of HDMI to alleviate overscan issues.
