Greetings! I'm a bit of a noobie at home theater stuff so please forgive me.
I have a good number of video files stored on my PC which my samsung television can play with no problem. However, I recently purchased a 60" vizio television which is much more limited in the file types it will play; for example it won't play .mkv files which is the format many movies are in.
What I'm looking for is a media play that will pretty much play all file types, to connect to my television with an HDMI cable. Ideally it would also be a nas server, as I'd love to be able to access these files from other devices, like my samsung tv. I've tried using DLNA but it doesn't seem to work well as a media server.
Anyone know if a good combination nas/media player exists? If not, how about recommendations for a good media player? Or if I'm on the wrong track here please let me know.
Thanks,
-David
