From what I can tell the local Fox in Chicago is boradcasting in 720p I dont think thats right but my receiver say it is . Any input on this

That station already might be converted to broadcast in 720p. The race is coming down from the network in it's usual Fox widescreen. No HD yet.

It is 480 upconverted to 720.

Yeah its in the usual Widescreen...it does look a little better but no totally HD. If its an upconvert its fine with me.

Its an upconvert. Fox 11 in LA has been showing races like this for a couple months and they look surprisingly good. I find the standard def ticker crawls to be the worst part of the broadcast.

First Fox I've watched in a while, was surprised I had to force 1080i on my VOOM box... Hopefully a sign of good things to come.

Looks like they just put it back down...we are having storms in Chicago right now but the picuture totall changed and got grainy like ususal with 480. But it still shows broadcast at 720p on STB.

If you search on the local HDTV forum there's a thread about WFLD-DT, Bob Olsen, the engineer, dropped an update this last week saying that WFLD-DT was not sending out 720p, they still are working on their upgrade to be able to pass 720p from the Fox network, should be done in June/July.

wfld's upconverting to 720p as of this past week as the thread said
