OK! I'm really confused now. I'm not a technophile but I'm trying to follow along with this new fangled digital convergence stuff.

Anyway I was talking to a guy @ the local tech shop about plasma and he said that many Plasma's had different native rates while standard analogue television does not have a native rate. So I puffed my self up and declaimed that NTSC native rate was 720x480i.

Sorry he said it did not work that way. He explained all sorts of other things that I solemnly shook my head at but he had lost me by the third sentence.

Is there anyone who has a simpler way of sorting this native rate thing out? And what's with SDTV not having a native rate? Is that possible?

Ahh! Analog. Thats the word I was looking for. So I'm comparing apples to oranges here.

Native rate is peculiar to digital signals and pixels.

NTSC analog is all frequency and wave functions
