Native is the resolution of the actual pixel array on the LCD or DLP panel, Max is the resolution that the projector will accept from the source, but it then scales it down to the Native resolution.

Native resolution = the pixel count of the imaging device (LCD or DLP panels).

Max resolution = the maximum pixel size of image that the projector can accept, downscale to the chip resolution, and display.
