After returning from commercial breaks, the bug read CBS HDTV and then rotated to become the 'eye' logo...

I think that they should show the "bug" for no more than 5 sec after commercials and then REMOVE IT!!!

I don't need them to remind me that I'm watching CBS, I already know. During the Masters Golf Tournament there were NO CBS logos at all!! After seeing how beautiful the image was without the logo, it is nothing but a desecration to continually have the logos staring at you.

It's time for these logos to go.

Yeah, that logo is bad from your affiliate.

But the rotating, flying promos for other shows that the networks use sometimes are really quite offensive.

It may make it easier to spot where programming originated from, but it is not required to enforce a copyright.

I guess I am fortunate, because the bugs never have been overly obtrusive here in Phoenix. They generally are small and transparent (with the possible exception of the Fox network, that has a somewhat large bug during non-WS programming. The only bug that occasionally bothers me is the Discovery-HD bug, as that one is ENORMOUS.

I'm glad someone started a thread about this logo. While I like the fact that it's smaller than the last year, I find this year's bug more distracting because it isn't as transparent as the previous one. A couple of times I was completely removed from the show because I was looking at the bright logo.

This year my local CBS has started inserting local ads which is fine but it really aggravates me when they're late flipping the switch back to the HD feed. This is more of a pet peeve than the logo.

Somehow I don't think the local affiliates hold any copyright on network broadcast. They just have local broadcast rights.

The logo is not there for copyright, it is for branding. Sure we're not going to forget what network we're watching, they just want to make sure we can't.

They still don't need to brand EVERY frame to let us know what the source is.

Oh, I quite agree, I'm just offering another reason why they do it. You should see the size of our local independent Channel 3. On my 65", it is 1 square foot during the news. Also, Spike TV seems to be the absolute worst. They have Spike TV written in animation every few minutes and then a large preview animation pops up before and after commercials. Of course, I wouldn't mind that so much if it would all disappear during the program.
