I'm within two months of a projector purchase but I haven't been able to find any good reviews that compare the NEC 157 or 158 to other HT projectors. I'm vascillating between the hitatchi 5500, the NEC 158, and am even think about the panasonic 711's . Can anyone give a good image quality comparison or has anyone seen the 157/158 other than projectorcentral? Thanks in advance.

I haven't seen any other reviews yet. Unfortunately, the PjC review was based on a pre-production unit, so it may not be entirely fair. They also seem to have stopped doing testing of brightness, contrast, etc.

Both units, the LT 158 and the LT 157 are avaiable here in Europe. These units are similar to the VT 540;

The differnces are: the LT157 has an VGA Input, the LT 158 has an DVI-I input, both inputs also acept Y,Yb, Pr (componet signals via this conections. about 1500 ANSLi-Lumen, 600: 1 contrast and Compact-Flash (Typ I) connection they are directed into the buisiness area. Of course, they will accept 1080i, 720p a.s.o. my impression of the LT 157 has been: a very well done pj for buisiness when I saw this unit on an internal show.; for HT I have not tested yet

Has anyone seen these projectors in a home theater setting, or displaying any type of movie? I'm looking for a comparison to the Hitatch 5500, the Panasonic 711, and/or even the sharp 9000. Any perspectives of those who have seen the NEC's in action would be appreciated.

I bought an Lt157 about 3 weeks ago. I am waiting for my screen to come in so I cannot give a complete review. Basically broadcasting onto a white wall. I can say that the picture comming out of my Omega 1 looked really nice. Blacks where better than I expected and the color out of the box looked good.


Again this was not in ideal conditions and not against a real screen but I really liked what I have seen so far.

Can anyone give a comparison between the 157/158 and the Sharp 9000, the panny 711xu, or any other projectors? Or at least a thorough review (other than projector central's). Anyone??????
