NEC HT510 mounting

400 Views 8 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  triodeuser
I see the HT510 mentioned as a good table top PJ. Can it be ceiling mounted with inverted pic as well and if so what mounting hardware is used?

Also, are there any other 1024 x 576 DLP's in this price range that I should look at.

The ceiling mount for the 510 is only $149.99 from NEC. I say only because that MSRP is less than most. I made a mount with 2 pipe flanges, 3 M4 screws, 6 wing nuts, 3 compression springs, 3 washers and a piece of plexiglass. Cost about $20.
I just got a cheap $99AUD ceiling mount with the extension in the range I needed and modified it a bit to work with my HT510, the HT510 is rather dumb in that the mount holes are rather akwardly positioned, if the one from NEC suits your needs and budget, that might be the go to save the hassles. So I guess that is a yes to it being able to be ceiling mounted (what PJ isn't nowadays?).

In that res, your other options are more expensive Infocus SP5700, Mitsubishi HC900, BENQ PE7800 is on the way out so you might be able to grab a deal on it (that being said over here in Aus I still got the NEC for a lot less).

Don't go looking at an LT150 at this point. Yes it has a good picture but it's not very bright and its LOUD. like REALLY loud. It's been surpassed these days. Yes, I have an LT150 as well as a PB6200.

-Trouble
He's looking at the HT510, matterhorn based projector been on the market 3 months, not the old LT150.

Don't worry, I'm mildly dyslexic also.

I got me one of those old LT150 jobs and I know exactly what you mean first hand. I plan to continue using the LT150 as a portable, but would like a dedicated PJ for the theater that is hopefully an improvement over the LT150 in CR, color, noise and is available under $2K.

I can't see going down in resolution to a 480p DLP for a large screen, especially after having 576p and satisfied with it for HD at 12' viewing distance. The 720p DLP is still overpriced and something like an HT510 will do until 720p gets down to the $2k mark.

How do you like your PB6200? Does it really put out 1700 lumens for that price.

DOH! Sorry got dyslexia on the thread title and figured that the 510 mount worked on the 150 as per the followon messages :)

As for the PB6200, yeah its SO bright compared to the 150. Colors aren't as good though IMO. It was a simple and painless upgrade from the 150 and it's a magnatude quieter. I still have my 150 as a gaming PJ. Even shelled out for a new bulb last month for it. Bulbs are still every bit as expensive as when they first came out :(

-Trouble
Bulbs on the HT510 are very cheap compared to others, typically bulbs for FP's go for between 600-800AUD in Australia, but the HT510/HT410 goes for 400ish.

I bit the bullet and bought a factory mount for my NEC MT1060 -

I think it's a pretty slick unit.

I'll be taking mine up and down for business purposes - so that was one reason I got the factory job.

My son is using a simple and cheap unit for his x1 that he bought from mandrake
