I haven't seen the Sanyo so I can't give you a comparison. I do own the VT540, however, and I love it. At first I had a problem with distortion with progressive images. See:

I have since gotten the firmware upgrade. I now get a beautiful image from my JVC 723 progressive scan DVD player. I have done a side by side with the Infocus 340 and the colors on the NEC blow it away, IMO. Hope this helps.

When you compare VT540 side by side with the Infocus 340, how noticeable are the pixels on the VT540 compare with LP340?
