He emailed me today, board is on the way to me for repair.
BTW, for anyone else, I repair boards wherever possible. From a tech point, I'd rather repair and put in new parts into a failed board than buying an unknown hour used one. I've had a number of customers find cheap used parts on eBay or elsewhere, only to call a couple of months later saying the replacement board has failed as well.
If a major smoke show has happened on a board and has burned a hole into the fiberglass board, then yes, I'll replace it, but that's about the only reason I ever do.
