Need a Good Audio Receiver

910 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  elmikethemike
I'm in the market for a new receiver for my 'home theater'. I need something that can accept at least 2 HD sources via HDMI, and of course output it to the TV via HDMI.

I'm not overly familiar with all the different kinds of audio processing like Dolby True HD, DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS-HD High Resolution Audio, Dolby Digital EX, DTS-ES, Pro Logic IIx, and DTS Neo:6 decoding, etc. But i figure the more of those Dolby buzzwords the better.

I don't need anything with tons of wattage either. I have an apartment so annoying the neighbors is not on my list of things to do.

As far as a budget, I havent really established that yet since I don't know how much I'd need to spend for what I'm looking for. I want quality without breaking the bank.

Any suggestions and tips would great.

Yamaha RX-V661 is one suggestion. But you can get more features for cheaper with Onkyo and Sony.

I will have to look into that one.

I've been eye-balling the Onkyo TX-SR605. How does this stack up?
