We're thinking about moving off-campus into a house, and are looking at the Dish Network 120+Locals and then for $9.99/month adding the HD channels.

So we're thinkign about running the tuner to a projector.

So I need a projector that supports composite, or whatever the 811 Dish Network HD tuner supports, and I'd like a solid XGA Projector for under $1300 or very near it, or somethign that would make HD look good.

I reccomend the benq pb6200. there is a 200 dollar rebate until 10/31! It's a great XGA projector, i don't have HDTV but my friend does and i have hooked up my projector at his house and hdtv looks AWSOME. you can connect the projector via Composite to VGA cable. *Pricing info deleted*

Does it have component inputs? Am I going to need component inputs if I run HD from the 811 HD reciever from dish network?

I know it has composite out, and some DVI-HD connector.

You may want to check out the recently discontinued Panasonic PT-L500U you can pick one up for a little above your budget. I just got one from costco. Great little projector it is an LCD projector, the native resolution is 1280x720 which is perfect for HDTV and nice for PC use as well. The L500 has composite, component, s-video, and DVI inputs. The 811 dish receiver support HDTV content over component or DVI so you should has all the flexibility in the world for your interconnects. Anyway, good luck!

Now hold on there, countless people haven't been able to cash in on this so-called "rebate". I think the 6200 is a nifty projector for HD content, but if you decide to buy it I suggest doing so with the idea that it costs 1500$ and not a penny less. In the best case scenario your looking at a 3 month wait for the rebate, if at all.

Ditto. I haven't even received the written denial letter for the rebate yet and it has been posted on the fulfillment house's website for more than a month. Whether this is due to incompetence or unscrupulous conduct, who can say, but the whole experience has completely soured me on Benq.

The Dell 2300mp is 2300 lumens and is under $1300 right now. Has Composite/VGA cable included with the projector. Long distance needed for a big image though. figure about 12ft for 100" image.

I have the PB6200 - use it with component outputs from cable box to vga connection on the projector. Picture quality is fabulous on HDTV channels. So good that I have even watched parts of football games...even though I have no interest in sports. Size of image and sharpness puts the plasma screens to shame.

Yes, Benq is somewhat notorious for poor rebate handling - took about 5 months for my rebate (free lamp offer) to arrive. I suspect they will honor the cash rebates, but just VERY slowly.
