Need a little 7.1 education.

Specific to my set-up, I have not utilized the 7.1 sound to this point. I have a ROTEL 1067 receiver and 7.1 B&W in-wall speakers. What are some good 7.1 movies and what settings are the best with my receiver. I have read a few thread, that said "hairspray" was a good one, any others?

Not sure there are any movies with discrete 7.1 sound. There may be, I just don't know about them.

Most 7.1 is matrixed from a 5.1 or 6.1 source. Generally, DPLIIx is overlayed on Dolby Digital or DTS to get 7.1.
Look for movies with 6.1 dts es soundtracks. The 6th channel is the rear center. Since you have two rear centers the sound will be matrixed between the two. If you do a google search for dts es 6.1 movies I'm sure you'll come up with quite a few. Off the top of my head I know Gladiator and The Lord of The Rings extended editions are 6.1
can your receiver and player do pcm 7.1?

If so, I just watched WAR! this weekend. The movie is ok, but it's in lpcm 7.1, and it was jaw dropping.

3:10 to yuma is LPCM 7.1 also. Haven't watched it yet, but should be great.

Watched 3:10 to Yuma last night ... it has an uncompressed PCM 7.1 audio file. Best audio I've heard yet on Blu-ray or HD DVD. Very wide soundfield, subtle sounds that you wouldn't hear on a lesser track.
Pan's Labyrinth, Ultimate Avengers, and the aforementioned two movies are all 7.1, among others.
