Not sure if this is the correct area to post this in, I apologize if it's not.

Here is my equipment:

Samsung LN40A550

Scientific DVR-HD Box

PS3 40 gig

Now, I was connecting all these to a regular 6 outlet surge protector.

I just recently purchased the following:

Harmon Kardon HK 3490 Receiver

PSB Alpha B1s

I'm still quite new to all this but I assume I shouldn't be connecting all these devices to a simply, cheap surge protector.

I'm willing to spend some decent money but i'm not sure what type of power device I should get. Any recommendations? Models and Brands?

Thanks guys.

We use one of the bigger APS UPS boxes. It not only provides a higher level of protection than a cheap strip it also regulates power and has plenty of capacity to allow the projector and RPTV to go though their normal shut off and cool down cycles.

Relatively expensive solution but well worth it to us.

Get a good APC surge protector, I'd recommend the P11VNT3. Transients and surges are a key destroyer of equipment, and low power issues will cause your equipment to shut down to protect itself. If you find your surge protector fried or your devices shut down without notice randomly, it suggests voltage fluctuates at your location too much, just add a cheap Line-R APC voltage regulator before the surge protector. Rarely if you see interference or noise in your gear will you need the extra capacity of a line conditioner, but until you notice that and are miffed by it, the surge protector +/- voltage regulator is all you need for basic and complete protection, that is backed by an excellent company, APC, and will cost you no more than $90.
