Need Advice - Bookshelf or Tower Speakers for Small Space

Hello Fellow AVS Members,

Looking to upgrade my 1st generation Pioneer 5.0 speaker system. They served me well for a beginner system but looking for better sound. I have been reading a lot of different articles, and I now have a dilemma, that is, in a small space (10.5 ?12 ? 7) would I be better served buying towers or bookshelf speakers for my main front speakers? I listen to a lot of music and watch movies as well, but I'm looking for better, mainly for music. Looking to spend $1,000 for the mains and center. Other info, I am powering them with a Denon AVR-1912 and I have an Outlaw LFM1-Plus to handle the bass.
