Who do you guys find is usually the cheapest when it comes to shipping large items? I'm looking to ship my old home theater sub (roughly 15" cubed before it gets boxed up,) to a friend for the lowest cost. I've never shipped anything this large before, so I have no experience.

Also, how do you recommend boxing this thing up to keep it safe and in one piece? Here's a picture of what it looks like, so that you have an idea of what I'm working with:

Thanks for any tips you can give me.

After it's boxed up you can take the weight and measurements and zipcode to get a quote for comparison at the shippers website. It's usually pretty close between Fedex an UPS though. If you don't mind paying a few more bucks you can just drop it off at the shippers and have them box it which I prefer because if there is any damage they can't blame anyone but themselves.
