I would say, let go of your loyalty to Sony. I had the same blind faith in Sony for a decade. A recent string of bad products has finally started to sour me. The Sony of today is not the same of the Sony from the 80's or even the early 90s

All,
My roommate recently moved out (along with his 47" Vizio and surround sound system) and so I'm in the market for a new television. After doing some research and stopping into a few Best Buy's, I've narrowed down to a few models, and I was wondering if anyone could offer any advice. My budget for the TV is around $1000 -- but I'd be willing to push that up if it meant a major increase in quality.
- I kinda have my heart set on the Sony Bravia 46V4100. If I could find the 5100 for $1000 - $1100 I'd jump on that. Although I am a little worried about the auto-dimming I've read about here.
- The Sharp Aquos LC46D65U has gotten good reviews and is in my price range, but I'm a bit of a sucker for Sony products.
- Newegg has the 42LGX for $999.99 shipped. It seems to have the Sony and Sharp beat on specs, but of course is slightly smaller.
This TV will be in a brightly lit living room, so glare is potentially a problem. I'll be using it for mostly gaming (PS3 and XBOX360) and watching sports -- not a big movie buff. I also plan on purchasing the Sony HT-SS2300 for surround sound, which currently has a good price on Amazon.
This is my first foray into the world of HDTV, and I want to make sure I don't make a decision I later regret. I also want to make sure I get the most bang for my buck, as I'm on a bit of a tight budget -- I've read the Samsung's are the best quality, but they tend to be a little above my price range.
Once again, any help/suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
