I need some advice on hooking up my computer to my receiver to get 5.1 sound.
The 5.1 speakers are all six Polk Audio, the CS1, and Monitor 30s, and the basic hundred dollar on sale subwoofer.
Receiver is Sony STR-DH700. Sound card is PPAI 7.1 channel without optical audio out.
Computer is using Envy24HF audio control panel.
If I use the optical cable I get terrific Dolby whatever 96 whatever sound through all of the speakers with a DVD movie. But everything else is two channel stereo.
If I use the good old 3.5mm splitter to two RCA jacks then I get sound through all the speakers all of the time on something that says DolbyPLII.
I was hoping that I could leave them both connected and toggle between the two with the software package. Either SPDIF on or off. But if the sound card has the optical cable connected it defaults to that. So to listen to anything but a movie I have to physically disconnect the cable.
So my question is really this...
Can the PPA 1424V sound card be toggled between the analog and digital outputs through the proper software package?
