Hello gents,

I am going to give myself a new toy this Christmas and I have narrowed the choices down to 3. It has been 12 years since I bought a new receiver for my home theater. The most important feature for me is standby HDMI pass through. that being said I have three to chose from. All have decent reviews so i am hoping someone in here can point my to one of them.

1. Pioneer VSX-1120-K http://reviews.cnet.com/av-receivers...-33983135.html

2. Onkyo TX-SR608 http://reviews.cnet.com/av-receivers...-33997671.html

3. Yamaha RX-V667 http://cnn-cnet.com.com/av-receivers...-34137032.html

They all look decent and are all within my budget. the pioneer has the best rating on Cnet but I do not know if that means anything really. i figured this is the place to ask since I have gotten a ton of good info from the folks around here over the years. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I am connecting a PS3, Dish PVR, WDTV and Pioneer DVD player.

I tell you what that yamaha 667 is an awesome sounding receiver. I borrowed one from a friend. I own the yamaha htr 5960 equalivalent to the famous rx v659. I rewatched some of the same movies with the 667 and I thought there wouldn't be much of a difference but there was. IMO the 667 sounds cleaner, the one thing I noticed was dialouge clarity. The surround speakers also improved. The sound is what to expect from Yamaha clean, dynamic, and lively. It's amazing how receivers have improved in 4 years.

I find it odd that the 667 sounds better than the 659. Are you 100% sure there's not some other reason they sound different?

I grabbed a Pioneer VSX 1120-K from Amazon for $483 shipped. I am looking forward to it. I have sorted through sooo many reviews of dozens of units and it took some time to finally settle on this. if it lives up to have the reviews I will be a happy guy. Thanks for the input guys.
