so the back story my folks CRT tv is dying (colors chaning to reddish and needs to be turned off and on for it to go back to normal), so they have decided to buy a new TV, they just want an affordable BIG tv.

I have put my eye on:

Sony - BRAVIA KDL46EX500 $1099 @ BB which can be had with 3 years no interest. It is a good deal.

LG 47LH40-UA $999 @ BB which can be had with 3 years no interest. It is a good deal.

Also I already have a Sony Bravia 46" KDL -46V2500

on my room which is about 3 years old. They told me if I want they could take my tv and give me the new, but I wanted to know which one has better quality for watching Blurays, TV and games?

Tempting to give them your 3 year old TV and get the new one for yourself. I would ask you how you would feel if you give them your TV and it ends up needing repair/replacement in the next couple years?

Between the new Sony and the older LG, I think you are likely to get better picture quality from the Sony, (but that model hasn't been around long enough for any independent tests).

simple if tv breaks for some reason, I give them the new tv and I would handle the repairs for the older one.

Besides, I don't see what that has to do with my question?
