Need help deciding between the LG C9 OLED and the Samsung QLED Q90 ......

Which one would you guys choose ?
I know there's pros and cons to each and a lot of different variables that go into the decision but which is the better buy for the money ?

I am stunned by your question. Neither the Lg OLED C9 or Samsung Q90 are anything close to a value. Both are expensive luxury items. I will be flamed from all sides.

Both great sets. Comes down to your space and priorities.

The Q90 worked out better in my situation.
Same Size? Then I would choose the LG but then I don't game or watch cable news so the possibility of Burn-in is negligible.

If it's for everyday viewing, mixed usage, the Q90. If you have a dedicated dark room for home theater, the C9. Note: Image retention and burn-in possibilities come with the latter.

FWIW C9 77" and Q90 82" are currently in a similar price range at B&H Photo. May be cheaper elsewhere. Good luck. Have fun. :)
Depends on the size and usage, but the Q90 is ridiculously expensive for what it is. Like, no way does it need to be that expensive, holy CRAP! It's just because Samsung.

The OLED is the better value for the quality, IMO.

I'm just not seeing this. They are comparable models and at the sizes they are available in the US they are comparably priced. Is the 55" Q90 astronomically priced in Europe or something?

Yes their luxury items but I only usually buy quality products no matter what I'm searching for..... it will be in a bright room so I'm leaning towards the Samsung but yet I'm very curious to own my first OLED TV.......
The Samsung tv got last place in every shootout comparing it to the oled and they dont have dolby vison and its extremely overpriced when you consider the fact that its old lcd led tech there is nothing to think about its the oled all the way.

Samsung also has that trade in trade up every couple years program so you're getting the latest technology does anyone know the specifics or have dealt with that ?

Me either tbh...up here in Canada the 55’s and 65’s are generally comparable in price, but with the 75 and larger sizes the LCD’s are MUCH cheaper.

The 75” Q90 is currently ~39% cheaper than the 77” C9! Heck, even the 82” Q90 is still ~17% cheaper than the 77” C9!

Of course it comes in last place in the shootouts....it's being measured against TV's that excel in the types of environments that shootouts are typically held in. I'd be shocked at any other outcome.

I guess I just don't factor in the age of the technology in use when considering the price. It's basically irrelevant to me when the thing I'm interested in is the actual performance of the display in real world applications. Neither of these TV's is a slouch in any way. In some ways one is better than the other, in some ways worse, but mostly just different. The fact that they are even compared against one another in a high end shootout is a testament to both sets capabilities.

I also don't understand the obsession people have with Dolby Vision at the level of these tv's. I guess I wouldn't complain if the Q90 had it but I just don't see the big deal when these tv's that have to do so little in the way of tone mapping to begin with. I might change my mind about this when 12 bit panels are someday available but for now and the forseeable future it's just not a big loss.

I haven't compared prices recently but this doesn't surprise me in any way.
Thanks for posting that....very helpful

Good choice. If the LG does Dolby Vision, even better. The one thing that's kept me from considering Sammies is their disdain for DV. Content's going to be advertising DV as a plus so for the price territory, not having it doesn't make sense.

Sorry, but bad choice if Motion factors in.....cannot beat any Sony!
So was your choice pretty much like everyone else's...?

LG - has full HDMI 2.1, Dolby Vision, and over 8 million independent lighting/dimming "zones" - but might have a very small chance of burn in if you watch a lot of CNN, MSNBC, etc...

vs.

Samsung - can get brighter.
