NEED HELP CHOSING A UST PROJECTOR

683 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  FSUsmith
I’m looking to purchase an UST projector in the next month or so. I’m trying to decide between the Optoma Cinemax Pro, Epson LS500, Samsung L7PT and more recently the Hisense 120L5. I can possibly afford up to the LG but only if it’s really worth it.
Epson seems to have the more favorable specs, but the longer throw distance may pose an issue, as it’ll take it more out into the room where the pool table is and some foot traffic. Also, I do have small children so the lack of eye protection may cause concern.
Sound quality is not an issue as I’ll be getting a sound system to complete the project.
Screen size I’m looking for is 120”.
There is some ambient light but not a lot. I do plan on eventually buying blackout curtains for the small windows.
Does anyone have some real word insight? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Also, Is the LG HU85LA worth that much extra money?

Harper has a good post on getting the Samsung to outshine them all (although I think you can do the same thing to all of them). Great post below, I'm going to be ordering the samsung next week and will report my results. Haven't heard much about the epson. You can usually look at the post count on the forum to see which is the most popular/best.

Is this for the Samsung 7 or the 9?
