I have been green lite for living room set up which is prewired for 5.1. This is not our main listening area, so looking for a budget set up, especially since we could be relocated in a few years and the inwalls will stay. But I can keep the sub, so might be worth investing more of the funds there. I am doing in wall per wife, to make it clean and there is nowhere to put bookshelfs. She is more music than tv, plus our Movie TV listening area is in basement (PB 2000 down there!).

3 ea Boston VRi-580 speakers for the L/C/R

The SVS SB-1000 will be fine for music and some HT/TV.


For about $100 less with shipping, the HSU STF-2 subwoofer.

The PB-1000 is a good pick unless you have a small room. As for inwalls, I personally prefer sealed models. Axiom Audio and Monitor Audio offer some sealed models for folks on a budget.

Thanks for the suggestions. The room is large vaulted ceiling and opens to the kitchen, so the sub looks good. Axiom's look good at 338 a pair. Will need exterior center since wife wants medium sized entertainment center.


Other suggestions out there?
