I need a little help. I am forward deployed across the border in Iraq and my speakers blew their fuses. I can have these speakers in my shelter and when "not much" is going on people can listen to their music. It is a set of Klipsch 2.1's. The other day all three fuses blew and now we have no music. I cannot find fuses anywhere. I have limited internet access, I am signal corp, but cannot find them online anywhere. If someone could help me find a place to purchase these fuses online or over the phone I could have them mailed out here and have music again in 3-5 weeks. The music REALLY helps with morale around here so I need to get them fixed as soon as I can.

There is one 2A 250V fuse and two 2.5A 250V fuses, they are about 3/4 of an inch long and glass. Again this is in a set of klipsch 2.1's I brought in my shelter from home. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR HELP!

Is this something I can get at any electronics store (standard style of fusing that isn't something proprietary to Klipsch)?

If so, you PM your mailing address, and I'll pick'em up and mail them over to you on my dime.

Probably standard fuses.

www.allelectronics.com or www.radioshack.com are your best bet.

It would really help to have either EXACT dimensions or a picture or both. (I know the latter is not likely to be possible.)

Of course, the question is WHY the fuses blew in the first place - There's a good chance that if *all three* fuses blew, their replacements will blow immediately or very quickly. Not sure how the Klipsch speakers might react to heat/sand, sand isn't conductive so that likely hasn't shorted anything, but something else might've gotten inside the unit to screw it up. I had a similar problem with an amp of mine, the first time around I had to replace one of the transistor packs and a power resistor, and it took me a day with a scope to diagnose it. The second time around (three years later) I eventually gave up on repairing it...

You might be better off mail-ordering some cheapo speakers, they won't sound as nice as the Klipschs but they'll be enough to let you get by. There's a good chance that if you order fuses that take 3-5 weeks to arrive, it'll just be 3-5 weeks wasted when the fuses immediately blow again.

Good luck over there!

Let me know what you need and I'll get it out to you asap. APO to APO will speed up the delivery. I can pick the fuses up here in GE. Send e-mail of required parts: [email protected] .

Whenever you boys in the field need something just give me a blast. A little word of advice...if you are who you say you are, never use an outside link in your situation. I can be reached using secured links. Try the chat room...

Jamxc, I note that you are from Arizona. If you're from the Phoenix area, when you get back, and you and your service buddies have some time, you call me and we'll have a home theater party at my place - on [email protected]@@

We really appreciate you and our armed forces. Thanks.

jamx,

The husband of one of the girls in the office is signal. If you're going to be in upstate SC contact me and we'll celebrate.

Going by past experience Alan's right about using an outside link and APO to APO will be much faster. Take his advice here.

Thanks for your efforts over there!

Look for the leters "AGC", "MDL" or some other 3 letter designator on the metal caps on the fuse. One is slow blow (Time delayesd), the other is a quick acting fuse.

Anything else you guys need out there?

I don't think any of the soldiers would complain about the "HOOTERS" girls serving us some beer and steaks!!! All joking aside we are doing alright out here. It will be nice when we can settle in somewhere for a while. All the moving is no fun with the ammount of equipment we have. Thank you for your concern!
