The exact location for the Dish is determined by your location. Follow the instructions in the manual and also on the screen (enter zip code, etc.) You are going to need a compass, tools and alot of patience. It may be very difficult and time consuming finding the signal without a portable signal finder. I pissed away about 3/4 of a day with my oval dish and then payed someone to come and finish it. Good Luck! http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif
If you have a clear view to the south from your mounting location, and you're reasonably handy, you can do it yourself. I'd recommend reading the dish pointing instructions on the DirecTV website. If you still want to move ahead, make sure you buy the self-installation kit with your dish.
These days free installation is included with most deals, though.
