Hi,

I have a Krell KAV-400xi that I am trying to use the HT bypass along my Marantz 6003 receiver. I have the front pre-out from the 6003 going into the designated HT bypass in the Krell; all connections seem fine, but I am hearing a fairly loud buzzing noise that gradually dies down, but still noticeable while watching TV. I've tried another input on the Krell in case it was a faulty input; same loud buzzing noise. One thing that i have noticed is that the buzzing noise is there only when the pre-out cable from the receiver is connected to the Krell. If disconnected, the Krell in HT bypass mode is dead quiet. Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

JD

Any input in the Krell can be configured for HT bypass, you have to select which one in the menu. Did y do that? Otherwise it maybe your cable, I had the same krell and it worked fine.

Yes, I know you can setup any input as the bypass; I did try a couple of different inputs, but still have buzzing noise. Yes, I did try another RCA cable; same issue. I suspect that its the 6003 receiver, but not sure how I can prove this.

I remember demoing the original version of this one in my system a few years ago now and cant rememeber any issues wiht the ht bypass at all. I cant remember the intricacy of setup but was nothing complex just my fumbling around enough ot get things going

good luck with things. if fairly new perhaps worth taking back to the dealer to check out there. that way will remove if there is any setup or hookup issue in your system. and atleast prove one way or the other if there is something wrong with the unit in question. if not the case perhaps something your dealer could help you with.

JD,

You could try another preout such as the center or surrounds just to see if you get the buzzing from all the preouts. Also have you tried disconnecting all sources to the 6003 especially the Cable box? Is the buzz only with TV use or did you try another input on the 6003 such as DVD or the Tuner. Just to make sure you are connected to the preouts on the 6003 and not the analog MC inputs?

Bill,

Update: I tried what you have suggested; I seem to have found the problem, but not sure what to do now. It seems that I get this buzzing noise only when I have my projector or cable box connected in one of the 6003's HDMI port. I've tried different HDMI cables, power cables and even a new power conditioner; same buzzing noise when something is connected to one of the ports. If I don't use the pre-outs in the receiver; i have no problems. To me, it seems like the receiver has some cross-talk with the pre-outs & HDMI ports... Am I wrong? Has anyone experienced this before?
