Hi, New to the forum but have read extensively. I am trying to figure out a way to use my existing PC for use as an HTPC. Below is what I have and any help would be appreciated. Thanks for the help in advance.
PC - Home Built - 3.0ghz Pentium 4, 4 gbs dual channel ram, 1 terrabyte storage(via SATA) ATI 9800pro, Dual DVD+DL DVD drives (1-Plextor, 1-NEC) ASUS P4P800E Deluxe MB, Sound Card, Creative Audigy 2, or on board Realtek AC97.
HT - older Mitsubishi 65" Wide Screen (Component Video Hookups only), Motorola DCT6200 STB (Cox Cable), Denon AVR3805, Tivo - Phillips HDR112 (hacked with everything including 360gb storage).
What I want to do? Record HDTV from the Motorola DCT6200 onto PC. PC is about 30 feet from HT center. Is it better to build another system or is there some way I can connect with the current system I have. Building is not a problem, I just don't know the best place to start. Am I missing something that will get me a shortcut to what I already have?
PS - Forgot to mention, can't move current PC and I understand Firewire's length limitation is about 15 feet.
Thanks in advance,
