Hi,

Can someone please advise if this is a good combination before I make the purchase?

I already purchased Yamaha RX-V573 that is 7.1
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882115375

Now I want to get speakers so I was thinking about doing 7.1 using these two combinations:

1) Klipsch HDT-600 which is 5.1
http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-HDT-600-Home-Theater-System/dp/B008CMVY7Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1386033394&sr=8-1&keywords=klipsch+hdt+600

2) Klipsch F-20
http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-Synergy-F-20-6-5-Inch-Floor-Standing/dp/B003XRD9TQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1386033058&sr=8-1&keywords=klipsch+synergy+f-20

Basically use the F-20 as the front speakers while use the HDT-600 front speakers as the surround back speakers. Is that a doable approach?

BTW, media room dimension is 14.5' x 12' with a 65" LED TV.

Thanks in advance!

Not a good idea. The towers would drown out the rest. Look at the Andrew Jones stuff on Amazon and a different sub. Or if want to stay Klipsch at least match the F-20 with a C-20 and S-10 or B-20 surrounds.

The Polk psw505 or Bic F12 might be a good fit on low budget.

Thanks for the feedback.

I already placed the order for HDT-600 and only reason I thought about getting the floor standing because I want to get 7.1 from my receiver.

So two new questions:

1) Is HDT-600 good enough for a 14.5' x 12' room?

2) Since I have a 7.1 receiver, is it worth adding two extra surround back speakers knowing room size?

If you have room for larger speakers I would get larger. You're missing a lot of frequencies with those little satellite speakers.

Is the HDT-600 good enough? Only you can decide...but most of us would say that having small satellite speakers as your fronts is NOT optimal! It will sound way better than tv speakers, but not dynamic like speakers with bigger drivers (greater than 4 inch drivers ).

Also, a small sub with 8 inch woofer and 100 watts is very small even for that sized room.!
