Here are the requirements:

~50" diagonal

NOT 3D (or at least it isn't necessary)

Internet connectivity for apps like Netflix

$1000 or less

What's the consensus on mid-market plasmas? Are the Pansonics still the best, despite the rising black levels?

Thanks.

You should tell him to spend about $200 more to get a Samsung pn50c6500. The image quality will rival the Panasonic tc-50vt25 (the best series Panasonic makes and one of the top TVs of the year) at a fraction of the price.

That's true but like he said he wanted something around less than 1K I told him to check the LG which is the top of the line from them. Anyway if you can spend more go and check the samsung and the panasonic tcp50vt25 (best plasma tv right now. In my opinion)
