Before I post my new basement HT plans for feedback, I need to make sure I get this specific topic covered in the design. I would very much like to locate my L/C/R speakers behind a screen material suited for this purpose. The framing has begun and the front screen wall is up already. What things will be important (during construction) in order to accomplish this speaker placement?
For example, do I need to fur out the wall somehow or can I just add bracing and insulation to the existing 2x4's? (behind this wall is a concrete exterior wall with that silver stuff builders tack up, I don't think it's real insulation).
For proper L/C/R spacing, do I need a minumum distance for the screen width?
Do I need to do something special to avoid acoustical problems? Early reflections?
Planned HT dimensions: 8.7" H x 12.8" W x 21' L
(I'm in a new housing development outside DC. There are 2 builders here. Both have HT's in their model homes and, so far, there are at least 6 HT rooms under construction - HT fever - it's crazy!!!
Thanks everyone for your help!
