This is what i have: Samsung HLP 5685

Yamaha RXV650 Receiver

Toshiba SD5970 DVD Player

Bell expressvu 6120 HDTV Tuner (Canadian)

Ok i got the TV today. The TV is awesome. But now i got a few other issues. I have the HDMI DVD player which is hooked up to the TV and my Satellite Digital box hooked up to the TV via DVI. There are no Audio or optical outputs on the TV so how do i hook it up to my Home Theater receiver?? The only thing i can think of is to connect the component cables from both the DVD player and SAT cable box to the receiver then from that to the TV. But that would defeat the whole purpose of HDMI and DVI capabilities.

Another thing i can think of is to leave the HDMI connected to the DVD player and add additional RCA's from the audio out ports and connect them to the receiver. I can also do this with the SAT cable box too and hook additional rca's to the receiver but then that would mean everytime I want to watch TV I would have to have the receiver ON and the TV speakers would never work on there own with it off . Is any of this stuff I'm saying correct or even the least bit understandable? Please help.

Thank you.

You would run all of your audio (digital or analog) to the receiver. For instance, your DVD player would have a dig. coax or optical cable going to the receiver. You'd want to use digital connections when possible to maintain the digital signal.

I run a digital (optical) connection to the receiver from the HD tuner. Then I ran RCA cables from the HD tuner to the TV. I normally watch TV using the TV speakers. If I want to use the receiver for sound, I turn the volume all the way down on the TV and turn the receiver on.

As for video, I use DVI for the HD tuner directly to the TV and use component directly from DVD player to the TV. I have to change inputs on the TV menu when I switch devices, so it's not as nice as just pressing a button on the receiver. I believe Denon makes receiver with DVI in's and out's, but it's not in my tax bracket.
