Need help purchasing HTiB and Wireless Speaker questions

2250 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Tulpa
I had a 5.1 surround setup for 5 years and recently sold it do to certain circumstances. After a while I just can't be without surround sound. I am looking to purchase a HTiB. I have never purchased one of these so I need help. I am undeciced on if I should do 7.1 or 5.1. How big of a difference is there? Also I want to go Wireless. Are the wireless speakers as good as wired? Are there any real differences?

With that in mind I need some recommendations to what I should buy. I am looking to spend between $500-$800. I do want wireless speakers so I do not have to run wires. I also do not want tower speakers for the front speakers as they take up to much room. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

What's the room layout? Where do you sit in relation to the walls? That's the biggest factor (can't really make 7.1 work if you sit with your back to a wall.)

+1

I use the Rocketfish Kit in a secondary HT. Works great.

I do not have my back to a wall.

Also are there any HTiB I can just get that are good with wireless speakers? I want to keep it as simple as possible.

This setup.

Keep in mind there is no truly wireless set-up. And good sounding wireless set-ups are rare. The rear wireless receiver will need to be plugged in an outlet and there will have to be speaker wires run from the rear receiver to the speakers

Then if you can mount the rear surround speakers 5-6 feet behind you, 7.1 is an option. But you can still do 5.1 if you want.
