Good Day,

I just purchased a new Samsung DLP 43" 4365. I have a brand new DirectTV set to run it. Since I have had this in my home I have been very happy with it except for one thing. Anytime words are on the screen or the picture is stationary for several seconds there is a very quick "flicker" that is noted. This was not evident on my old analog set probably due to the poor quality of the old set. I have changed DirectTV receivers, s-video cables, purchased a Monster Clean Power filterer, even run the signal through my VCR but it still continues every 2-3 sec. DVDs are perfect on the TV and today Best Buy brought me a new one and it does it too. Strangley enough, whe I bring up the menu for "signal strenghth indicator" and the satellite feed in the upper left corner "blacks out", the words on the screen become perfectly still and look great. But as soon as I move to any menu where the picture returns to the upper left corner, the blurring every 2-3 seconds returns. Strangely, a coaxial feed does not cause any flicker (which is left to right) but as you move from coax to component to s-video the flicker gets worse and more frequent. My DirecTV receiver has a good clear view with only a few leaves in the way. Please Help!!!

Thanks you

This is my first post, although I am an avid reader of the forum.

I am having the same issue - so frustrated that I had to post a response.

I have an HLN617W and am using an RCA DRD486 Directv Receiver. I have contacted Samsung on three occasions now, and they keep telling me I will be hearing from a "product specialist", but have yet to hear back (~ 2 weeks). I spoke to them again today, and they stated that they have elevated the issue and I should receive response "very soon".

I have tried a new receiver, different cables, etc. but have had no luck in removing the issue.

Strangely, I do not see the issue when using coax connection or any other component through the 480i input!?!

Can anyone offer some help?

Try a subject line that is more spacific. The people reading "Need Help Sammy HLN-4365w" may not be the ones with the answer you need.

Today I went out and bought a Samsung SIR-TS160 HDTV DirecTV receiver and hooked it up via a DVI cable and set the resolution to 720p (t.v.'s native resolution) and the flicker went away. I had thought this might happen but wasn't sure until I tried. If I'm not mistaken DirecTV, although a digital signal into the receiver, converts this to analog signal out to the t.v. The Samsung DLP reconverts this back to digital and then upconverts this to 720p from a 480i and displays it. Evidently these multiple conversions caused the flicker as I'm now running a direct digital-to-digital picture in the same 720p format. Sucks that this "fix" is so expensive, but I can't see any way other than this around the problem. Hope this helps!
