Hi ALL,

I have never bought an LCD TV before and I need some help selecting a small sized TV. I currently have a real old 13" CRT TV in the bedroom feeding off a VCR. The TV is close to the bed so the small size is not a problem. I am finally ready to upgrade it to an LCD panel with a DVD, but I will also be watching a fair amount of 4:3 programming so I want that image to be no smaller than what I'm getting from the 13" TV. I started looking at 16" LCD's but according to their specs the height of the panel is 7.6" but the height of the 13" TV's viewing area is 9" so the 4:3 image would be smaller.

Ok, so now I started looking at 19" panels and was almost ready to buy when I saw that they all seem to be 1440 x 900, or 16:10 aspect ratios rather than 16:9. I know the higher number of pixels are better but won't a 16:9 image be geometrically distorted when showing full screen in a 16:10 panel? That would be unacceptable to me. If its not distorted then are there bars at the top and bottom when playing 16:9 material? I could live with that, but I hate it when an image is geometrically distorted.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks,

Gerry

P. S. I was looking at some Coby or Auria LCDs. I had not heard of either but some user reviews for both were pretty good. Anyone have any of these LCDs?

any size limits?

My dad bought a 22" Vizio from Costco and he seems happy with it. It replaced his 13" bedroom tv. 4:3 image is about what you would get from a 17.9" tv. $280 at Costco. They also have a 20" model for $230 (1600x900 resolution, 22" is 1920x1080)
