So its time to upgrade the good old ASUS TUSL2-C board that has served me well!

My new HTPC will only be used for DVD and HDTV material nothing else.

I would like to use ffdshow to resize and post process.

My projector is a CRT BARCO 1209/2.

Present Graphics card: Radeon 9500 (AGP8X)

So here are a few questions.

1. Motherboard: Have looked at ASUS P5P800 – Would that be a good choice?

2. Would I benefit anything picture wise from upgrading my Radeon 9500 (remember no gaming, only DVD and HDTV viewing with ffdshow) If yes for upgrading graphics card. Which one?

3. Processor P4 3 GHz 800 Mhz or Celeron 3 GHz do I benefit anything from the P4 for ffdshow and DVD and HDTV watching?

4. RAM how much? 1Gig PC3200 or more ?

1. In general, hard to go wrong w/ name brand mobos.

2. Tough to say since you use software post proccesing; money spent on a new graphics card may not be worth it....

3. Celerons/Semprons/Durons/etc-not recommended.

4. 1 gig ram is plenty....
