We've sold our house and part of the deal was my pj, a Sanyo Z2.


So now I need to buy a new one!


I'm trying to decide between the Sanyo Z5 or a demo Studio Experience 50HD.


Both will be around the same price. We use it mainly for movies and some HDTV in a dark room. I also have my MacMini hooked up as HTPC, (all DVDs ripped to HDDs) so the one nice thing about the SE is the DVI input where as the Z5 is HDMI.


So basically it comes down to newer LCD tech over older DLP tech with better scaler.


Thoughts anyone?

You can usually adapt DVI to HDMI without issues, so having DVI input shouldn't be an advantage. You'll probably be happier in the long run when you get a source that uses HDMI.


Have you considered one of the recent popular lower cost DLP projectors such as the Mitsubishi HD1000u or the Optoma HD70? They may perform just as well as, if not better than the DLP you're considering.
