I got the acoustmass 5.1 bose system. I was hyped up to believe they were the best speakers in the world but man am I dissapointed. I am looking to spend 600 - 800 dollars. Anything that would sound better then my current setup. Any help would be appreciated. I don't want to spend my money only to be dissapointed again.

Can anyone please suggest a good 5.1 setup? My room isn't so big but it really isn't that small either. The speakers would be about 7 feet away from the seating postion. I would also like something I can stand up on stands and a system that isn't so hard to setup.

This might be a very good start for you. Home Theater Direct speakers. You get a 30 in home trial with free return shipping. The in-home trial is a big plus because you get to see how it sounds in your home environment.

You can get 4 bookshelf speakers and center channel for $530 shipped. They come in 3 colors; black, dark cherry and light cherry.

And a nice subwoofer around $200 and you're set!

Thanks a lot afrogt. Those speakers look pretty awesome. Do they sound a lot better then my current setup? I am ready to place a order for them in a bit. My only question is how much speaker wire do I need and what kind? I'm not really good with this stuff so any help would be appreciated.

Oh and does anyone have any idea how much I would make if I were to sell my current setup with the stands on ebay?

As far as selling your stuff I would get an idea of what they are selling for by looking at others for sell on eBay. Price yours around theirs.

With the wires you can get a spool of the thicker stuff from wal mart and it will work fine. If you want to do a big power upgrade in the future and like the look of big wires you could look at some 10/4 electrical cabling from home depot or lowes. You can get a lot of power through those and for cables that big they are still sort of cheap at around $2 a foot. They will outperform monsters offerings and are a lot cheaper too. They have a diy cable review on audioholics.com.

If you can step up your budget a little you could look at the hsu system. You get a good subwoofer (which you need) and some horn bookshelves. If you can't step up your budget you can go with something from energy or a used klipsch setup from craigslist.

Thanks again for the replies. Would you suggest I go with the link afrog showed me or should I just get some energy speakers? My friends told me Energy was really good. I'm trying to get the best

speakers I can get for the budget I have.

Oh and am I going to hear a big difference when I upgrade my system? I don't want to feel like I wasted my money.

Okay guys I appreciate all the input. I have narrowed down my choice to two systems.

A)Two Infinity Primus 362 as my front speakers. Two Infinity Primus 252 speakers as my rears and the Infinity Primus C350 as my center. All this would come out to $649 dollars. I am leaning a little towards these because I wouldn't have to pay for the floor stands.

B) Energy Classic System. These seem really good but the floor stands would make them that much more expensive.

Which one do you guys think I should go with? Any help would be appreciated.

If you're looking at Infinity towers, there is no reason to consider the take classic satellites. little sats wont compare to good tower speakers.

If you want some Energy speakers, look at the C-300 towers and C-C100 center speaker.

Other options would be the Polk monitor 60 and matching center

You can go to Best Buy as listen tol the Polk Tsi400 which would be similar to the Monitor 60.

Where are you located anyway?

As much as those speakers look amazing I really don't have the money to get all that and the center speaker. It would come out to around 1k.

I think the whole package is around $714 including the subwoofer.

5 A6 5T5 speakers...you would use one as the center speaker

A2-250 sub..

that's a great price. You would have to buy stands though.

You guys just sold me on the Elemental Designs. After looking into them some more I am very hyped up to buy them. I hope I'm not dissapointed with them compared to my Bose. I just put my speakers up on ebay too. Thanks a lot guys for all the help.

Okay guys I actually have one more question. I just put out the order for these speakers and I wanted to know what speaker wire I should get. Is there a certain kind I should buy to improve performance? How much would I need? Any links would be appreciated.

no certain brand will improve the quality, just good solid 12g or 14g wire should do the trick. You'll have to determine how much you need based on how far each speaker is from the receiver.

this should be fine.

The only way that would happen is if you have awful hearing!
