I just purcased a Canon Vixia HF200 and want to use card reader to download video to my computer. I have searched using google and forums wirh no success. I find many cases where it says how easy it is to use a card reader but nowhere can I find out how.When I open the sdhc using the reader what files do I transfer to my computer to edit, make a movie and burn a dvd. I know I download mts files but what do I do with all the other files on the sdhc? Delete them, leave them or what? Thanking for any assistance jim_joh

I don't think you can use a card reader. I tried it and it crashed the PC. Now I just connect the camcorder to the PC and it works fine. I have a Canon HFS100. Let me know if you get a different answer.

The files that you need for viewing or editing are the .mts files. The other files are not needed. Once you have copied the .mts files to your computer and you are sure that they are safe (that may include making a backup copy) you can then delete the AVCHD folder and all subfolders on the SDHC card or format the card.
